Max Duggan and TCU have played plenty of top-notch competition during the course of this season. With that said, to be the best you have to beat the best. Over the course of the last year, that’s been the Georgia Bulldogs.

Duggan spoke about the opportunity to play against the reigning national champs in this season’s CFP National Championship. He said it’ll be a ‘fun’ chance to compete with a team and program of the Bulldogs caliber in what could be a phenomenal close to the Horned Frog’s underdog story.

“It’s fun when you get to go play the champ. Obviously, the defending champion. And it’s like in any sport. When you get to go compete against those guys? We know how successful Georgia has been in their program,” said Duggan. “It’s been incredible what they’ve done, even prior to the last couple years. It’s truly special what they’ve done.”

Georgia has been working their way up to special things in the seven seasons under Kirby Smart. That has culminated in the 2021 and 2022 seasons for the Bulldogs. In that time, they’ve gone a combined 28-1, won the SEC Championship this season, and won the program’s second national title last year.

Now, as they are on the verge of repeating, only Duggan and his teammates stand in their way. However, they have no intention of just giving it to them. Their goal is to win their program’s second national championship while proving they belong on the same field as the champs.

“We’re excited,” Duggan said. “Not a lot of times you get to go compete against a champion, to be on the same field as them, kind of show what we’re all about, and compete against them. And earn our spot. I think it’s something that we’re excited about.
