Consensus three-star running back Major Everhart of Amarillo (Texas) Tascosa is staying in-state.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound speedster announced his commitment to TCU Thursday morning during a pep rally at his high school. He picked the Horned Frogs over Notre Dame, Baylor and Texas Tech.

Major Everhart took visits to Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech in June. He then took a visit to Notre Dame after the Irish offered him. However, he said he was leaning toward staying in-state throughout the recruiting process.

And that’s just what he did with his commitment on Thursday to TCU. A sure sign of his interest in TCU came when he made the visit to Fort Worth to watch the Horned Frogs face Texas.

Major Everhart bills himself as the “fastest player in the nation.” And he does have track speed to back up the claim. At the Texas District 3-5A two-day track meet in April, Everhart won the 100-meter dash with a blazing 10.5-second time.

During the 2020 football season, Everhart rushed for 839 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games. Through six games this season, he has 457 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He’s averaging a whopping 19.9 yards a rush average. He also has 248 yards receiving and two touchdown receptions.

Major Everhart is the 11th known commitment for the Horned Frogs in the 2022 class. He is also the sixth in-state prospect to commit to the Horned Frogs.

Everhart was recruited by TCU assistant Bryan Applewhite. Earlier, Everhart called Applewhite the most genuine coach that was recruiting him.

That strong relationship was a big part of Everhart’s decision in the end.
