TCU right tackle Andrew Coker was taken to the locker room after suffering an injury in the second quarter of the national championship game against Georgia on Monday.

The nature of Coker’s injury remains unclear, but he was clearly frustrated as he slammed his helmet on the ground before walking off with trainers. At the time of his exit, the Horned Frogs trailed 17-7.

Andrew Coker is not the only big injury for TCU, as running back Kendre Miller was ruled out pregame with a knee injury. Already down to their backup running back and now facing the possibility of losing a key member of their offensive line, things were not looking good for the Horned Frogs.

Fortunately, Coker returned to the field shortly after. So far TCU has given up just one sack, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see that number rise if Coker is unable to return to the game. The Horned Frogs are also averaging just 2.3 yards per carry.

Georgia went on to add another touchdown and currently leads 24-7 with less than two minutes before halftime.

Kendre Miller out for national title game

TCU will reportedly be without its top rusher for Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship. Kendre Miller has been ruled out, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth’s Newy Scruggs reported.

Miller suffered a knee injury in last week’s Fiesta Bowl against Michigan and his status has been a topic of conversation all week leading up to the national title game against Georgia. TCU coach Sonny Dykes said Miller would be a true game-time decision depending on how he felt after warm-ups, but it sounds like the Horned Frogs will go forward without him.

Emari Demercado, TCU’s second-leading rusher, is expected to get the bulk of the carries in the backfield in Miller’s absence.
