Demani Richardson and the Texas A&M Aggies have come to play against the top team in the nation in the Alabama Crimson Tide. Following a 5-yard touchdown run by the Aggies, the Crimson Tide marched down the field on their next drive. But instead of finishing the drive with points on the board, Texas A&M shut the door on that drive with this interception by Richardson.

After Alabama scored on their opening possession, Texas A&M has shut the door on the Crimson Tide’s next two drives ending them with turnovers. Following a touchdown to take a 10-7 lead on their second possession of the game, the Aggies recovered an Alabama fumble on the 41. With the ball on their opponent’s side of the field, Texas A&M quickly marched down the field and scored on a 5-yard touchdown run.

Texas A&M is 0-2 in SEC play, but the Aggies continue to build on their lead early in the third quarter. Despite playing without starting quarterback Haynes King since the Colorado game, Texas A&M’s offense keeps answering anything Alabama tries to stifle the Aggies.

Coming into the game against the Aggies on Saturday, Alabama had led their opponents for 59 straight quarters. Their streak was the longest since 1950 for any FBS team. Since the 2020 season, only two teams had a lead against Alabama at all, with Georgia and Ole Miss accomplishing the feat on Oct. 17 and Oct. 10 of 2020.

The last time Alabama trailed in a football game was the third quarter against Georgia last year, where the Crimson Tide would regain the lead and win 41-24.

Right now Alabama is trailing late in the third quarter 31 to 24. Coach Nick Saban is 12-12 at Alabama when his opponents score 30 or more points. So with that in mind, it’s a 50/50 chance that Texas A&M hangs on for the upset win. A win that will undoubtedly throw the College Football Playoff picture into chaos.
