Texas A&M wide receiver Demond Demas was arrested by police in connection with an assault family violence charge stemming from an incident which later led to more charges and an additional assault. The former five-star recruit has appeared in 14 games over two seasons for the Aggies.

During his Tuesday press conference, Jimbo Fisher deflected a question about Demond Demas’ current status with the program and legal situation.

“No, we can’t comment on anything going on with Demond and where he’s at,” said Fisher, quickly moving to the next question.

Demas reportedly knocked out multiple teeth of his victim, whose family reportedly assaulted Demas in the coming days afterward. Immediately following the incident, reports suggested the Demas was no longer with the Texas A&M program.

Despite Jimbo Fisher’s inability to speak publicly about Demond Demas, On3 also learned this week that the wide receiver is entering the transfer portal.

More on Demond Demas case

According to a probable cause statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged victim who was Demas’s girlfriend, “Reported that the defendant pushed her head into the wall. Then she bit him on the shoulder. (She) reported that the defendant then grabbed her and threw her from off of the bed onto the floor, which caused her top front teeth to go through her bottom lip.

The Demond Demas arrest comes less than a week before the start of 2022 spring practice for Texas A&M, which is set to open on March 7 and culminate with the annual spring game on April 9. If charged, Demas could face significant jail time. He could also face program discipline, as well as the school discipline, regardless of the future legal implications.

After using his redshirt in 2020 after making four appearances with no offensive stats, Demas saw his first significant action at Texas A&M during the 2021 season. He finished the year with 15 receptions for 235 yards and one touchdown.

New allegations surrounding Texas A&M receiver Demond Demas have emerged as a second assault claim has been made. A former girlfriend of Demas alleges that he slapped and choked her several times during a six-month period, beginning in the summer of 2020.

The report indicates that the second victim reported the assault to police but the Brazos County district attorney’s office declined to pursue charges at that time, citing a lack of overall evidence and a “she said/he said” circumstance, a law enforcement official said.
