Prior to a hearing regarding an assault family violence charge, the father of the alleged victim allegedly attacked former Texas A&M player Demond Demas, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Demas was getting ready for a hearing for the charge, which stemmed from an incident earlier this week when he allegedly knocked multiple teeth out of the victim’s mouth. Thursday, the victim’s mother and father allegedly attacked him and a family member, according to The Chronicle’s Brent Zwerneman.

They were arrested Thursday afternoon on a misdemeanor assault charge, Texas A&M police told Zwerneman.

“The father assaulted Demas and the mother assaulted a female relative of Demas prior to a scheduled on-campus conduct hearing for Demas, according to Richardson, and there were no serious injuries,” Zwerneman wrote. “The father and mother were taken to the Brazos County Jail.”

Report: Texas A&M wide receiver arrested on serious charges, no longer with program

Texas A&M wide receiver Demond Demas was arrested by police in connection with an assault family violence charge stemming from an incident this week, according to the Houston Chronicle. The former five-star recruit has appeared in 14 games over two seasons for the Aggies.

Demas reportedly knocked out multiple teeth of his victim. The incident led Jimbo Fisher to shut down the athletics department temporarily on Tuesday as police searched for his player.

According to GigEm247, Demas is also no longer with the program.

“Demond Demas has been suspended by the University. Athletics is following all University protocols and procedures and he is not with our football program,” a Texas A&M spokesman told GigEm247.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by the Chronicle from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged victim who was Demas’s girlfriend, “Reported that the defendant pushed her head into the wall. Then she bit him on the shoulder. (She) reported that the defendant then grabbed her and threw her from off of the bed onto the floor, which caused her top front teeth to go through her bottom lip.

The arrest comes less than a week before the start of 2022 spring practice for Texas A&M, which is set to open on March 7 and culminate with the annual spring game on April 9. If charged, Demas could face significant jail time. He could also face program discipline, as well as the school discipline, regardless of the future legal implications.

After using his redshirt in 2020 after making four appearances with no offensive stats, Demas saw his first significant action at Texas A&M during the 2021 season. He finished the year with 15 receptions for 235 yards and one touchdown.
