Texas A&M has extended an offer to Dallas South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas.

Thomas is the No. 119 overall prospect and No. 14 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He also the 22nd-best player from the state of Texas.

During the Dallas South Oak Cliff run to the championship, Inside Texas caught up with Thomas in late November.

“Texas, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State are the schools I hear from the most,” Jayvon Thomas said. “As far as the factors that are important for my recruitment, I want to play behind a good defensive line and location/how far I’ll have to travel will factor in as well.”

Dallas South Oak Cliff’s state championship was an historic one as the team was the first Dallas ISD program to win a state championship since the presidential administration Dwight Eisenhower, who himself played football at Harvard.

In the secondary alone, the team had three Power Five cornerbacks in Jayvon Thomas, Kyron Chambers and Malik Muhammad.

Muhammad is a fellow 2023 cornerback. On3 ranks him as the 15th-best player in the country and second-best cornerback in the cycle.

Chambers, who is committed to TCU, is only a three-star recruit in the 2022 On3 Consensus. But that may soon change as he had a great performance at the All-American Bowl.

“We thought Texas signee Jaylon Guilbeau and TCU signee Kyron Chambers were the top two defensive backs for the West team throughout All-American Bowl week,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “Guilbeau was had the most active ball production in coverage at practices and jumped a Drew Allar pass for a near pick in the game. Chambers was a late add, coming in mid-week. He hit the ground running in practices and had an interception in the game.”
