Hitchcock (Texas) 2025 four-star quarterback Lloyd Jones has announced his commitment to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Jones is the nation’s No. 248 overall prospect and No. 17 quarterback in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 41 player in Texas.

He does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Jones is the third prospect to pledge to Texas Tech’s 2025 class, joining Stephenville (Texas) wide receiver Tristian Gentry and Wichita Falls Hirschi athlete Isaiah Anderson. In the current cycle, the Red Raiders are putting together a solid 2024 class, ranking in the top 25 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Texas Tech’s 2024 class built by in-state recruiting

The Red Raiders currently have the No. 1 2024 recruiting class in the Big 12 thanks to top-notch in-state recruiting. Of the 21 commits in the class, all hail from the Lone Star State.

Headlining the list is Temple Lake Belton Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Micah Hudson, the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 2 wideout in the nation. Texas Tech was the longtime leader in his recruitment and Joey McGuire and Co. eventually locked down his pledge on Sept. 11.

“What ultimately stood out to me about Texas Tech is the REALationships I have with not only the whole coaching staff, but with coach McGuire, coach Nance the director of player personnel, and also Coach Justin (Juice) Johnson the assistant head coach and wide receiver’s coach,” Hudson told On3 upon his commitment. “Coach McGuire is a selfless, caring coach. There aren’t too many coaches out there like Coach McGuire who will take the blame for everything and be understanding about things.

…Coach Kittley’s resume speaks for itself he is known for his explosive offensive mind and aggressive play calling. Knowing that, me and my future teammates will be able to excel in that offense and change the game which really excites me because we are going to shock the CFB world.”

Other top commits for the Red Raiders include: Prosper four-star offensive tackle Ellis Davis, Sachse four-star EDGE Cheta Ofili, Pflugerville Weiss four-star safety Peyton Morgan, Hutto four-star quarterback Will Hammond and Pearland Glenda Dawson three-star EDGE Edward Smith.
