COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Peyton Morgan‘s sensational senior season continued on Friday as his Pflugerville (Texas) Weiss offense and defense made big play after big play to capture a runaway road victory.

In the process, Morgan tallied three interceptions, one of which was wiped away by a penalty, upping his Texas high school-leading interception total to seven more than midway through the fall.

“We play with a lot of energy and everyone did their job, which is why I got the interceptions. We did our jobs and it led me to three picks. It’s a great feeling,” Morgan told On3 after the win. “We’re having a fantastic year. We just need to keep setting the tone and stay locked in.”

The Wolves defense is thriving behind Morgan’s ball-hawking skills. Seven picks in as many games is no coincidence.

Hutto (Texas) On300 QB Will Hammond, another Texas Tech commitment out of Central Texas, was leading the Lone Star State in yardage midway through the regular season. Meanwhile, Five-Star Plus+ WR Micah Hudson has been good for an unreal highlight play routinely on Friday nights at Temple (Texas) Lake Belton.

Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders have amassed a superb collection of blue-chip talent from Central Texas in the 2024 cycle. That group, including Morgan, is making a lot of noise as seniors.

“It’s the best class,” he started. “It’s just a great coaching staff. Coach McGuire is doing everything right. So are the other coaches … Coach (Brian) Nance, Coach (James) Blanchard. Every coach on the staff and even the players are fantastic. If you go and visit, it’s fantastic. You can tell they’re well-coached and great people.”

“We really believe in Tech,” Morgan asserted. “We want to make Tech great again.”

The 6-foot, 170-pound playmaking safety is part of the Red Raiders’ Big 12-leading recruiting haul, which stands No. 21 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Rankings.

“Tech is going great great. I love Lubbock. Guns up. Ride or die with it,” Morgan said. “I love it.”

“So far, I’ve seen good hard work and even when they lose those games, they keep their heads up,” he continued. “Coach McGuire, even though he knows it’s frustrating, he always has a smile on his face, he’s always positive … it’s what I love —- he cares … more about the kids than the wins and the losses. He’s just a great dude and he’s handling it really well.”
