UCLA Basketball: Brandon Williams commits to Bruins, Mick Cronin

Middle Village (N.Y.) Christ The King four-star recruit Brandon Williams tells On3 he’s committed to UCLA.

Williams, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound power forward, ultimately chose the Bruins over St. John’s, his hometown school. He also received scholarship offers from  Illinois, Oklahoma State, USC, Seton Hall, Kansas State, and others.

The 16-year-old senior is UCLA’s second commitment to the 2023 class, joining four-star PF Devin Williams (No. 52).

Williams ranks as the No. 84 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are higher on Williams, ranking him 70th overall in the class. He’s also the No. 1 player in the state of New York.

WIlliams breaks down his commitment to UCLA

“I chose UCLA because UCLA is a very big program,” Williams said to On3. “UCLA is the best opportunity for me to succeed in the long run and it’s a new experience and will also be a challenge.”

What type of player is UCLA getting in Brandon Williams?

“A versatile player,” he says. “I’m going to help play defense, guarding any position, and cut the slack off for my teammates on the offensive end. Just being able to do everything a lot of people can’t do.”

Williams has a message for UCLA fans.

“UCLA fans, let’s turn up!”
