UCLA Bruins senior guard Jules Bernard has declared for the 2022 NBA draft. The six-foot-seven senior and native of Los Angeles, CA, announced his decision to enter his name into the draft from his Instagram account with a picture and this message to Bruins fans.

“Thank you for all your support these past four year. It has been an incrediable run,” said Bernard. “As for my future – I have declared to enter my name in the 2022 NBA draft while maintaining my collegiate eligibility. I’m super excited to start this process and I’m looking forward to taking steps towards achieving my dreams.”

In order to maintain his college eligibility, Bernard has declined to hire an agent as he goes through the process of debating whether or not to jump to the next level. Also, although he is a senior, he still has at least one year of eligibility left; which was awarded to all collegiate athletes after last year’s COVID shortened season.

This past season, Bernard put up solid numbers for the Bruins on their way to a Sweet 16 berth. Unfortunately, UCLA was knocked out by the North Carolina Tar Heels, who had a historic run to the Men’s Tournament championship game. Bernard finished last season averaging 12.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He also shot better than 80 percent from the free-throw line and had a failed field goal percentage of 41.9.

UCLA in the running for top recruit Ron Holland

Five-star power forward Ron Holland is coming off a strong first weekend at the Nike EYBL. The 6-foot-8 prospect averaged 14.2 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.2 steals across four games.

The weekend also happened to be the very first live period of the summer, meaning plenty of college coaches were in the stands watching the On3 Consensus’ No. 8 overall 2023 prospect.

Six different programs were in to see Ron Holland over the weekend — UCLA, Kentucky, Houston, Arkansas, Texas, and Auburn. Each of the programs have offered except Kentucky.

If my eyes served me right, only three programs had their head coach in to see him: UCLA’s Mick Cronin, Kentucky’s John Calipari, and Houston’s Kelvin Sampson.

I should also note that UCLA and Arkansas were at all of Holland’s games. It makes sense considering the word on the street is Holland is the No. 1 priority recruit for both the Bruins and the Razorbacks.
