Joshua Lewis, a four-star prosepct in the 2025 class, is staying home and has committed to USF and head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim.

The 6-foot-6 small forward out of Blake High in Tampa is ranked as On3’s No. 38 overall player in the country, making him USF’s highest-ranked recruit in program history.

Lewis makes the decision after visiting the Bulls campus this past weekend. In addition to South Florida, he also received offers from Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, and Illinois.

Lewis breaks down his commitment to USF

Joshua Lewis’ relationship with Amir Abdur-Rahim, along with his style of play, led to his commitment.

“Ultimately, I chose USF because of the great relationship I’ve built with not only coach Amir but the whole staff,” he said. “Also, I feel I am going to fit great in their system. They’ve shown me love since day one and have been consistent throughout the whole process.”

Lewis’ trust in his future coach made all the difference.

“Coach Amir is a great man who I respect and trust with my future. He sees a lot in me and I think he will help me reach my full potential.”

In his own words, what type of player is USF getting in Joshua Lewis?

“A long, athletic guard that can score on all three levels, defend 1-4 and protect the rim and rebound at a high level.”

Lewis has a message for his hometown fanbase.

“What’s up Bulls Nation! I’m super excited to announce my commitment to USF. You guys are going to get everything out of me. I’m 100% committed and ready to work!”

USF’s on court success leading to wins on the recruiting trail

In his first year at the helm, Amir Abdur-Rahim led South Florida to 25 wins and only two conferences losses, bringing the Bulls their first American Athletic Conference regular season title. He also delivered the program their first Top 25 ranking in both the AP and Coaches Poll. On top of all that, he won AAC Coach of the Year.

Prior to taking over as head coach at USF, Abdur-Rahim spent four years leading Kennesaw State, leading the Owls to an NCAA Tournament appearance in his final season there.
