Vanderbilt secured their first victory in Rupp Arena since 2007 thanks to a last-second Jordan Wright basket that gave them a 68-66 win over Kentucky. The Commodores left Lexington with a win, but not with full health. Vandy’s star big man Liam Robbins left the game early due to an injury and never returned, and after the win, head coach Jerry Stackhouse was asked if he had any updates on Robbins.

“Not yet, tomorrow he’ll get reevaluated. He had a lower leg injury, but right now we’re just gonna hold off and get back and get more results tomorrow,” Stackhouse said.

Robbins had to be helped off of the floor just four minutes into the game after suffering his injury. He still managed to score a basket in his limited time, but he would be a huge loss for Vanderbilt moving forward with SEC Tournament play right around the corner.

Robbins is Vandy’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 15 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season. He’s also a huge part of the Commodores’ defensive presence in the paint, ranking No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the SEC in blocks per game averaging 3.2 per contest.

Vanderbilt has won seven of their last eight games, and Robbins has been key in that success. Prior to Wednesday’s game, he led the team in rebounding in every single matchup during their seven-game stretch, while also scoring in double figures in each game and leading the team in scoring in all but one contest.

WATCH: Jordan Wright upsets Kentucky with last-second game-winning basket

Kentucky fans were excited for March.

Vanderbilt‘s Jordan Wright stopped on a dime and nailed an off-balance 10-footer to give Vanderbilt the 68-66 victory and silence the crowd at Rupp Arena. Kentucky’s Antonio Reeves had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but his attempt was short and Vanderbilt escaped with a win.

Wright had his way all night for the Commodores, scoring 23 points including going 4-of-4 from deep off the bench. The final two points were all that mattered, though. Check out Wright’s heads-up play below:

The win is good for the 10th of Vanderbilt’s SEC schedule and moves the Commodores into fifth place in the current SEC standings. They still have a chance to sneak their way into the top four of the SEC Tournament, which would give them a double bye into the quarterfinals.

For that to happen, they would need losses by either Kentucky or Tennessee this Saturday and would have to defeat Mississippi State at home for it to be considered.
