Wagoner (Okla.) four-star athlete Witt Edwards has committed to Vanderbilt.

He chose the Commodores over TCU, Houston and Iowa State. He also held offers from the likes of Kansas State, NC State, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Edwards is the No. 372 overall prospect and No. 12 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Oklahoma.

The Commodores had Edwards in Nashville for an official visit in June, setting the table for his eventual pledge. He’s now the second four-star in Vanderbilt’s 2024 class, alongside Cibolo (Texas) Steele four-star safety Dontae Carter.

“Edwards is a guy that just isn’t getting his due, even around OKPreps. He’s a long athlete who could feature as a defensive end or a tight end at the next level. His length and twitch are rarely mixed together and there’s a lot of potential there,” SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuistion wrote in July. “His potential is elite.”

Edwards does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Edwards bolsters Vandy’s 2024 class

The addition of Edwards makes an even 20 commitments for Clark Lea and Co. in the 2024 cycle. The Commodores currently sit in last in the SEC with the No. 16 class in the conference, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

There’s a heavy Texas influence in Vandy’s class, highlighted by Carter and Houston St. Thomas three-star running back Johann Cardenas. Carter is the No. 22 safety in the cycle, but checks in much higher in the updated On300 rankings at No. 48 overall and the No. 3 safety. Cardenas is the No. 39 RB in the cycle.

In total, five pledges are currently set to head from the Lone Star State to Nashville next year, compared to only four in-state commitments — highlighted by Knoxville Webb three-star wide receiver Markeis Barrett Jr and Chattanooga McCallie three-star quarterback Jeremy St. Hilaire.

Other top commits in the class include Earle (Ark.) three-star WR Joseph McVay, Jacksonville (Fla.) Baldwin three-star EDGE Mason Carter and Monroe (La.) Ouachita Christian three-star safety Tate Hamby.
