Theodore (Ala.) three-star wide receiver Kamrean Johnson has committed to Vanderbilt. He announced the news over social media.

Johnson is not ranked in the 2023 On3 Consensus or the 2023 On300. However, On3 rates him as a three-star recruit, the No. 235 wide receiver and No. 56 player in Alabama.

The 6-foot-5, 215 pound prospect was previously committed to Georgia Southern.

“After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to decommit from Ga Southern University. I am changing my commitment to Vanderbilt University,” Johnson wrote. “I’m ecstatic to compete and perform on the highest stage in NCAA and be a major part of turning this program around. Thank you Coach Lea, coach Flaherty, Coach Lustig and all VANDY nation for bringing me in. Can’t wait to get to work!”

How Johnson impacts Vanderbilt’s 2023 recruiting class

Johnson is currently the fifth wide receiver commit in the Commodores’ 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 45 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 12 in the SEC. The other wideouts are Nashville (Tenn.) CPA three-star London Humphreys, Decatur (Ga.) three-star Kenric Lanier, Biloxi (Miss.) three-star Duran Parish and LaVergne (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy three-star Junior Sherrill.

Vanderbilt’s class contains 13 commitments and is composed of 1 four-star, 11 three-stars and one unranked prospect. The Commodores’ highest-rated recruit is Rome (Ga.) four-star cornerback Martel Hight, the No. 344 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus and the No. 232 overall prospect in the On300.

Johnson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6.2K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
