Deerfield (Mass.) three-star quarterback Cole Geer has committed to Virginia, he announced on Sunday night.

He chose the Cavaliers while also holding offers from Virginia Tech and Boston College.

Geer is the No. 626 overall prospect and No. 54 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Massachusetts.

“I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Virginia to play Division I football,” Geer wrote. “I would like to thank my family and everyone who has helped me through this process. Thank you Coach Barbato for believing in me and every step of the way.”

The 6-foot, 190-pound signal-caller becomes the second member of the Cavaliers’ 2025 class, joining Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal four-star wide receiver Isaiah Robinson — the No. 232 prospect and No. 31 wideout in the cycle.

Geer does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Virginia still with room in 2024 recruiting class

While Geer and Robinson are looking to start the junior class off strong for Tony Elliot and Co., the Cavaliers still have plenty of room to fill out their 2024 recruiting class with National Signing Day less than three weeks away.

The ’24 UVA class ranks just No. 69 in the nation and No. 16 in the ACC, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Headlining the pledge list is Roswell (Ga.) three-star EDGE Chase Morrison, the No. 832 overall recruit in the cycle.

“I’ve been heavy on Virginia ever since I first talked to coach (Chris) Slade,” Morrison told On3. “He’s a very real coach. When I went up on an unofficial the first time, I loved talking to coach (Tony) Elliott. It was a good conversation… Coach Slade is a huge part of why I’m going there. He holds the sack record there and he’s got 50-plus sacks in the NFL. He’s got what I need to get to the league and do the best that I can do.”

Other top commits for Virginia include: Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock three-star offensive tackle Benjamin York, Atlanta Creekside three-star cornerback Kevon Gray, Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller three-star EDGE Jewett Hayes and Windermere (Fla.) Prep three-star DL Tyler Simmons.
