Baltimore (Md.) Archbishop Spalding four-star quarterback Malik Washington will take an official visit to Virginia Tech from April 12-14.

Washington is the nation’s No. 265 overall prospect, No. 22 quarterback and No. 6 recruit from Maryland in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

More on Malik Washington’s recruitment

Penn State currently leads for Washington in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Washington appears to be the Nittany Lions’ top uncommitted QB target in this class after PSU lost out on top-20 in-state quarterback Matt Zollers to Missouri.

Washington visited State College last month and spoke with BWI.

“The energy. That was the main thing that stood out in general,” Washington said. “With it being the first [practice] for them, all of the players out there and the coaches were excited to get after it. That was good to see. I mainly just sat in on their meetings for a little bit and then watched practice. That was mainly it.”

Maryland, Virginia Tech and Penn State appear to be the three schools at the front of this recruitment.

“I’d say that the three who were my first three – Maryland, Virginia Tech and Penn State – they’re the ones who have been on me the most,” Washington said when asked which schools are recruiting him the hardest currently. “Syracuse has jumped into the mix, too, a decent amount.”

Washington also said that he will likely take an official visit to Happy Valley.

“I feel like the next step for me [with Penn State] is taking my [official visit],” Washington said. “From there, I’ll probably make my decision. I’ll probably have to end up waiting until late May or June for those because a lot of coaches are on the road in April and May.

“But I definitely want to take those visits. I feel like you only get one chance to really go through the recruiting process. So, why not take those visits?”
