Virginia Tech offered Dylan Wittke on April 11. Five days later, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback out of Buford (Ga.) visited Blacksburg.

Now, one month after the offer, Wittke commits to the Hokies.

“I announced it today, but I actually told Virginia Tech on Friday, May 6,” Wittke told On3. “At the end of the day, I knew Virginia Tech was my No. 1 school, so there was no reason to wait.”

Brad Glenn and Tyler Bowen were the lead recruiting for Virginia Tech. Head coach Brent Pry was involved too. They created that feeling on campus that Wittke was looking for.

“The coaches and the people at Virginia Tech are super nice. They made it feel like home when I was there. The consistent communication, the way they recruited me, and that visit were big for me.

“The facilities are amazing too, but it was the coaches and the feeling that stood out most to me. I knew that was where I wanted to be.”

Close to two dozen schools have offered the Top-50 quarterback in the country, but none compared to Virginia Tech. It was an easy call for him and the coaches were ecstatic when they received the news.

“I told coach Glenn first. He was excited when I told him I wanted to be a Hokie. Coach Pry was next. He likes me as a player and a person, so as soon as I told him, he was super fired up about my commitment.

“The coaches made me feel wanted, they blew me away on the visit, and I know this is the right decision.”

Wittke, a three-time state champion, is excited about what coach Pry and his staff plan to do in the ACC.

“The fans of Virginia Tech say coach Pry brings them hope,” Wittke said. “I sat beside a Virginia Tech fan on the way to my visit and they really liked coach Pry. I feel the same.

“He and his staff know the game, they are down to earth, and they are ready at Virginia Tech.”
