Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star safety Faheem Delane has added an official visit to Virginia Tech for this weekend, he announced on social media Thursday.

Mansoor Delane, Faheem’s brother, is a cornerback for the Hokies and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention as a true freshman in 2022. Now, Faheem will check out the school with family ties.

“I’m excited to see how the whole defense developed and how the team improved,” Delane told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Coach Pry is a great coach and V Tech is on the up and up.

“They have a great fan base and the program as a whole is on the up,” he added. “I love what Coach Marve the defensive coordinator is doing. You can tell he really understands and loves football.

“I love Virginia Tech as a whole and my brother has nothing but good things to say about them.”

Going forward, Delane has four additional official visits scheduled: Maryland (May 31), Ohio State (June 8), Oregon (June 14) and LSU (June 21).

More on Faheem Delane’s top 5

Delane broke down each of the five schools with Phillip Dukes on the Five-Star Flex earlier this month.

LSU: “LSU has a great DB culture — Jamal AdamsPatrick PetersonTyrann Mathieu. You’re getting dogs when you go into Louisiana, which is a dog-eat-dog mentality. I love that about it.”

Maryland: “Hometown team. Great DB coach, great culture getting safeties drafted. Definitely a school that’s a contender for me.”

Ohio State: “NFL. They’ve got so much talent there — every day competing against NFL talent. How they study the game is so NFL-like, so you get very prepared.”

Oregon: “Coach Dan Lanning, I would say he’s a young Nick Saban in this new day and age. He’s a great young coach willing to do anything to get that national championship.”

Virginia Tech: “My brother plays football there, he plays corner — so family ties. They’re on the up-and-up with a new head coach, coach [Brent] Pry. Just a great coach.”

Delane is the nation’s No. 37 overall prospect, No. 3 safety and top recruit from Maryland in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
