Georgia Amoore did not officially announce her entry into the transfer portal, nor has she declared for the WNBA Draft — but has played her final game at Virginia Tech.

On Thursday, the AP All-American guard penned a heartfelt letter to the Hokie Nation announcing her decision, saying goodbye to the fanbase she spent four years growing up in front of.

Fubo’s spring offer just kicked off – For a limited time, new subscribers can save $20 on their first month of Fubo’s Pro, Elite, and Premier plans.

“What a ride these past four years have been,” she wrote. “But it’s time to say goodbye. It’s been a blessing to be part of this family. I’ve built a home here in Blacksburg and lifelong friendships that I’ll always hold close. Special thank you to my coaches for their love and support. Lots of hugs to my teammates who have gifted me the memories of a lifetime. There aren’t enough words in the world that can express the gratitude I have for this place.

“Because this place… Will always be home.”

Amoore averaged 18.8 points per game during her senior season and ranked fourth nationally in assists with 6.8. A four-year starter for Virginia Tech, she’s 147 points away from scoring her 2,000th career point.

Her announcement comes after Virginia Tech was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in the second round by Baylor. Her head coach, Kenny Brooks, has since left Blacksburg to take the open job at Kentucky.

Amoore and Brooks have seen major success together, particularly over the last two seasons. Amoore was the MVP of the ACC Tournament when the Hokies won their first-ever conference tournament in 2023. They followed up this season with the program’s first ACC regular-season championship. Overall, Brooks compiled a 180-82 overall record in Blacksburg, which includes a school-record 31 wins in 2022-23 that culminated in the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance. Amoore was with him for 94 of those.

Aside from the shortened pandemic season during her freshman year, Amoore helped lead the Hokies to three-straight seasons featuring 23 wins or more. Over the past two years specifically, she’s spearheaded an effort that has seen Virginia Tech win 56 of their last 69 games.

Now, whether she chooses to follow her head coach to Lexington or heads to the pros, she’s certainly made her mark in Blacksburg. Hokies fans are sure to cheer her on from afar.
