Former Washington running back Tybo Rogers has been arrested and charged with second-degree rape and third-degree rape for two separate incidents, according to multiple reports, including one from Christian Caple.

Rogers was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two different females — one in October and one in November.

The first alleged sexual assault was reported to police in late October. However, Tybo Rogers continued to stay on the team and played in both of Washington’s College Football Playoff games.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer, who was the head coach for the Huskies last season, released a statement about the arrest on Thursday.

“While I am not able to comment specifically on the situation involving an individual at my former institution because of federal privacy laws and the ongoing criminal matters, I do want to make it clear that I take any allegation of sexual misconduct very seriously,” Kalen DeBoer said. “I always have and always will follow established institutional policies and procedures to ensure prompt reporting and proper handling of allegations by the appropriate authorities.”

Tybo Rogers signed with Washington as a three-star recruit in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He played in 12 of 15 games as a true freshman, rushing for 184 yards, while averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

Rogers’ best outing came at Michigan State in September when he had 15 carries for 74 yards.

He did not travel with the team for the Pac-12 championship game, although no reason was given at the time. Rogers did return to the team for the College Football Playoff. He had five carries for 19 yards in a semifinal win over Texas and one carry for two yards in a loss to Michigan.

Washington released a statement about Rogers’ arrest, according to Caple.

“The University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics Department is aware of the arrest of a football student-athlete,” a Washington spokesperson said to Caple in a statement. “The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities until further notice. The UW will continue to cooperate with law enforcement.”

As for Kalen DeBoer, he spent two seasons as the head coach at Washington, leading the Huskies to a Pac-12 title and the College Football Playoff this last season.

DeBoer left for the Alabama head coaching job in January after legendary head coach Nick Saban retired.

Saban won seven national titles during his coaching career, including six at Alabama.
