Casmir Chavis will not be headed to Seattle after all. The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Park Center High School (MN) has been released from his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to Washington and will reopen his recruitment. The news comes after head coach Mike Hopkins was recently released from his duties. Former Utah State head coach Danny Sprinkle will serve as his replacement.

The On3 four-star senior committed to the Huskies in November and signed his NLI during the early period. He ultimately chose Washington over Georgia, Arizona State, and West Virginia.

According to On3’s Top-150 Player Rankings, Chavis is the No. 110 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 15 point guard prospect and the No. 3 player in Minnesota.
