Will Rogers’ journey is only just beginning. On Dec. 15, the former Mississippi State quarterback transferred to Washington. His plan was to close out the year and replace Michael Penix Jr. next season. However, after Alabama hired Kalen DeBoer to be the program’s next head coach, Rogers’ plans were thrown into disarray.

Now, Rogers is searching for a new home again. On Sunday, On3’s Pete Nakos pulled back the curtain on what’s next for the coveted transfer quarterback.

“I spoke with someone and Will Rogers camp this afternoon and they really wanted to emphasize that every option is still on the table for Will,” Nakos told On3’s Andy Staples. “Now what that is exactly, I think we’ll find out as as the days go on.

“I think staying at Washington is still definitely on the table, depending on who they’re bringing in as a head coach. He’s someone who transferred and started classes and it was brand new and then, all of a sudden, he has to reassess what’s going on.”

One of Rogers’ questions was answered on Sunday when Washington announced its next head coach will be former Arizona HC Jedd Fisch. The 47-year-old head coach is an enticing leader for any player interested in offense.

Arizona’s offense ranked No. 8 in the country in passing yards per game (308.3) and No. 18 in points per game (34.6) this past season. Now, Fisch will aim to bring the same success to Washington. Nonetheless, Nakos believes Rogers will entertain other options.

Other options for Will Rogers

“There’s also some quarterback openings across the country,” Nakos said. “Does he go to a Michigan? Does Auburn still want a quarterback? I mean, all intriguing options, which I’m sure that he’s going to evaluate.

“[Auburn] is going to try to add a quarterback one way or the other.. They’re not going to take a quarterback with like three years of eligibility left. There’s Walker White, the freshman, coming in, who’s really highly-touted and really highly thought of. They want him to be the guy in the years to come.”

Rogers fits these requirements. He’s a veteran QB, who spent four seasons at Mississippi State. While with the Bulldogs, Rogers threw for more than 12,000 yards and 94 touchdowns while completing more than 69% of his passes.

Rogers is currently listed as the No. 3 available quarterback in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings. No matter where he lands, Rogers will provide a wealth of experience behind center.
