Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial three-star athlete Kenny Worthy has committed to Washington State.

He chose the Cougars while holding offers from the likes of Arizona State, Boise State and Iowa State.

Worthy is the No. 83 athlete and No. 32 player in Arizona in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 170 pounds.

“It’s really about where I can see myself living my life,” Worthy told On3 about making a decision. “Obviously, I’m going to be playing football, but I will also be living away from home. Also, whichever coaching staff shows the most interest, whichever coaching staff I feel can develop me into the player I’m trying to be matters.”

Cornerbacks coach Ray Brown led Wazzou’s recruitment of Worthy. Ultimately, the allure of Pullman and playing for the Cougars won out, despite Arizona State and Nevada leading for the prospect, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

“They’re consistent every year,” Worthy said. “They compete in the Pac-12, which is not easy. That’s what really stands out about Washington State.”

Worthy does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Worthy joins Cougars’ local recruiting class

Worthy is the 14th commit in Washington State’s 2024 recruiting class, which ranks No. 67 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

Other recruits in the class include Oxnard (Calif.) Pacifica running back Josh Joyner, Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic cornerback Tyson Weaver, Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International quarterback Evans Chuba, Camas (Wash.) offensive tackle Carson Osmus and Lancaster (Calif.) Antelope Valley safety Dajon Doss.

The class is largely compiled of recruits out on the West Coast. Of the 14 pledges, seven are from Washington or California.

The Cougars are still figuring out their next steps as conference realignment has seemingly left them without a full conference next season. The Pac-12, as it stands right now, looks to be the effective Pac-2 after the latest landmark decisions by conferences around the country. Only Oregon State and Washington State are left, and the next steps of the league are still unclear.
