Washington State Athletic Director Pat Chun and his wife Natalie have been permanently trespassed from a local business and the owners’ home after entering the store and allegedly threatening to destroy the business if the owner doesn’t remove a video from social media, according to a police report.

Whitman County Watch on Nov. 1 posted a story which includes a link to the police report, detailed below. It includes the account of Al Sorensen, a Pullman city councilman and owner of the local business in question, Pioneer Insurance. According to the report, Chun accused Sorenson of posting a video on Facebook of a party Chun hosted. The video revealed a large gathering, and the attendees were not wearing masks. As a result, Sorenson alleged that Chun became “verbally aggressive,” threatened his insurance business and went on a profanity-ridden tirade.

Chun and his wife first entered Pioneer Insurance to cancel their insurance plan on Sept. 29, 2021, the day of the event; Sorenson did not file a report with the police until Oct. 19, 2021, one day after Chun and Washington State fired head football coach Nick Rolovich for cause.

After Chun and Sorenson sorted out the insurance matter, Chun shifted the focus to personal matters, according to the report. He accused Sorenson of posting the video of his party, then proceeded to get aggressive.

Sorenson’s recollection, detailed in the police report, alleges that Chun said, “you are a f—” and “do you know how many people f— hate you.”

Sorenson’s daughter, Jennifer, intervened and told Chun that she posted the video, hoping to diffuse tension. She said she deleted the video, but Chun’s alleged aggression continued. He said, “I am going to tell everyone your stance on BLM,” per Sorenson’s account, and that he would set out to “destroy you.”

After contacting the police, Sorenson told the responding officer that he felt threatened; he believed that “Pat was being so aggressive that if he stood up from his desk that things would become physical.”

Sorenson said that no one else in the Washington State athletic department had cancelled their insurance plans, but Chun threatened to tell the rest of the department to cancel their plans, thus harming Sorenson’s business.

The police report labeled it a civil issue and that there was no criminal activity, as Sorenson indicated that he would not pursue charges. Chun and his wife were later issued the trespass order from Pioneer Insurance and the Sorenson household.

According to Whitman County Watch, Chun declined to comment on the matter through a Washington State athletics spokesperson.
