The West Virginia and Duquesne football game on Saturday night was delayed due to lightning. There were several other games across the college football landscape on Saturday that were affected by bad weather.

The West Virginia Twitter page announced the restart time for the game on Saturday night. If there are no additional lightning strikes, teams will retake the field at approximately 8:52 p.m EST. Following a 15-minute warmup period, play is planned to resume at 9:07 p.m. EST. Fans will not be permitted to re-enter the stadium until 8:52 p.m. EST and there will be no halftime, per the announcement.

Check it out below.

Play was officially suspended with 8:14 remaining in the second quarter, when the Mountaineers led the game, 14-10. There was a message and announcement on the scoreboard at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Play finally resumed and West Virginia cruised to a 56-17 victory, as expected. Once the game started again, WVU started to create some more separation, scoring 21 points in the final 6:49 of the first half.

West Virginia had a number of impressive performances

West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene completed 10 of 18 passes for 240 yards, while tossing in four touchdowns and no interceptions. The Mountaineers got a standout performance from Jaheim White, who had 12 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Receiver Hudson Clement hauled in five catches for 177 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It was the collegiate debut performance for Clement. After the game, the performance impressed head coach Neal Brown so much that he put him on scholarship.

Clement got to start in place of West Virginia receiver Devin Carter, who was out with an injury.

Running back C.J. Donaldson also had 13 carries for 56 yards in the win.

WVU had two interceptions on Saturday night, one from Avery Wilcox and one from Beanie Bishop, Jr. Duquesne had a decent performance from quarterback Darius Perrantes, the brother of former UVA basketball star London Perrantes. Perrantes completed 14 of 31 passes for 220 yards, while tossing two touchdowns with two interceptions.

The Mountaineers rolled up 619 total yards of offense in the blowout. That included a balanced offensive attack in which they piled up over 300 yards through the air and on the ground.

With the win, WVU moved to 1-1 overall on the 2023 campaign. Next, they’ll face off against the Pittsburgh Panthers. That one is set to kick off on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kick will be at 7:30 PM EST.
