Aaron Rodgers is the latest Packers’ player to be sidelined due to injury or COVID-19 protocols. The Green Bay quarterback will miss the Chiefs game for sure, but his status beyond that point is unknown.

Earlier this week, Rodgers made his weekly appearance on Pat McAfee’s podcast. The Packers’ signal caller was asked about left tackle David Bakhtiari’s status and return from injury and provided this hilarious response.

“He looks good,” Rodgers said. “His belly is where it needs to be, it’s grown the last few weeks for sure. He’s ready for the bull rush, he’s got the bull rush belly. ”

Aaron Rodgers then shared a story from the offseason about his left tackle and good friend.

“When we were training in the offseason, he said, ‘if you come back, I’m going to play in Week 1,” Rodgers said with a massive grin.

“That obviously hasn’t come to fruition, so I haven’t let him forget about that,” the Packers’ quarterback added. “He hasn’t let me forget about that every day we drive down, in a gift that he bought me, the first gift he ever bought me by the way.”

Aaron Rodgers compliments offensive line

After sharing some initial laughs with McAfee and crew, the reigning NFL MVP took another moment to compliment his fill-in offensive line.

“Look, we are excited for him to come back,” Rodgers added of Bakhtiari.

“In the meantime, I’m going to take this opportunity again to highlight the way the line has played. Elgton Jenkins at left tackle, going against Chandler Jones, who is a premier pass rusher. And Billy Turner because Chandler was going on both sides…both of those guys have played really, really well. I’m proud of them.,” Aaron Rodgers said.

The Packers quarterback didn’t stop there.

“Inside, I think our guys have held up and improved,” Rodgers said. “Jon Runyan, Royce Newman and Lucus Patrick at center. Again, Josh Myers, our starting center has been out for a number of weeks now, and Lucus has stepped in and played very well for us. I think Royce and Jon have been improving and playing well, too.”

It’s clear while Aaron Rodgers is thrilled to get his All-Pro left tackle back on the field, he’s been truly impressed with other guys stepping up in the meantime.
