Dallas Cowboys star Amari Cooper provided multiple injury updates coming out of the bye week, including on Dak Prescott and himself. The veteran wide receiver told reporters he is “as close to 100 percent” as he can be, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota.

Cooper, like several other Cowboys starters, has dealt with lingering injuries over the first two months of the season. Following their overtime win over the New England Patriots, the Cowboys received a 14-day break from live action, allowing players to rest and recover.

In addition to his self-diagnosis, Amari Cooper took a look at starting quarterback Dak Prescott’s calf injury. When asked whether he believed Prescott would play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, he left the final diagnosis to someone else.

“I don’t see why not,” said Cooper. “But I don’t make those decisions. You gotta ask Dak.”

Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper have connected well since the later arrived in 2018. He already has 30 catches for 373 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2021. Cooper is currently riding a streak of four straight 1,000-yard seasons, which began the season he joined Dallas.

Dak Prescott provides self-diagnosis

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott provided an update on his calf injury, which he sustained Oct. 17 against the New England Patriots. The star signal caller “pushed it” on Thursday, hoping to gauge the severity. Head coach Mike McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones have also remained hopeful Prescott will be able to participate on Sunday.

Prescott is currently listed as questionable for Sunday, needing to “cross the threshold” before playing against the Minnesota Vikings, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. The Athletic’s Jon Machota asked Prescott if he believed the injury would play a factor if the playoffs started Sunday, drawing a definite answer.

“It would be no question,” said Prescott. “100 percent.”

The Dallas Cowboys have been careful with Dak Prescott’s injuries all season, limiting his training camp work after ankle surgery and holding him out of preseason work with shoulder issues. Their caution can be excused, given the massive extension signed this season.

Despite the injuries, he is having an MVP-caliber season. Prescott leads a top five offense in the NFL, and the team looks like a potential Super Bowl contender. On the year, Prescott is second in the NFL in completion percentage (73.1%) and fifth in total passer rating (115.0). He has thrown for 1,813 yards and 16 touchdowns with just four interceptions.
