The Baltimore Ravens aren’t done bringing in running backs. Their running back room has been decimated in the past few weeks and they’ve added Le’Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman in the past few days.

Now, the Ravens are working on a deal to bring in former New Orleans Saints running back Latavius Murray, according to Jeff Zriebec of The Athletic.

Zriebec believes a “deal should get done.”

He was recently released by the Saints, after he refused to take a paycut. The move by the Ravens is understandable, since J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill all suffered season-ending injuries recently.

Murray would be a welcome addition to a depleted Ravens backfield. He looked impressive during his last two seasons with the New Orleans Saints, rushing for over 600 yards each year.

He just started just 15 games the past two seasons, but Murray racked up over 1,200 rushing yards and nine touchdowns for the Saints.

The talented all-purpose tailback also hauled in 411 receiving yards on 57 catches in his two seasons with New Orleans. He hit season-high averages of 4.5 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per catch last year.

A nose for the end zone

Murray has had a nose for the end zone for most of his NFL career, racking up 43 touchdowns in his seven-year NFL career. For his entire career, the “Tay Train” has rushed for 4,991 yards. As a receiver, he has hauled in 185 catches for 1,294 yards and two touchdowns.

Murray and Kamara

Latavius Murray and Alvin Kamara were a talented tandem together in New Orleans. They had one of the most talented offensive lines in the National Football League, but both players shined.

Kamara rushed for over 900 yards and Murray rushed for over 600 yards last season, giving the Saints one of the better running back duos in the league. The Saints piled up over 2,200 rushing yards in 2020, ranking them sixth in the league in that stat category.

Murray NFL career

Murray’s best year of his NFL career came with the Oakland Raiders, when he rushed for over 1,000 yards and hauled in over 200 receiving yards. That season was good enough to get him named to the Pro Bowl, the only time he’s earned that honor in his NFL career.

Once he officially signs with Baltimore, their healthy backfield members will include Latavius Murray, Ty’Son Williams, Trenton Cannon, Le’Veon Bell, and Devonta Freeman.
