Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is not a fan of the ridicule his teammate Ezekiel Elliot has been bombarded with this season. Prescott had this to say in defense of his running back.

(Ezekiel Elliott) has always been a very unselfish player and is gonna do whatever it takes for this team’s success,” he said on Friday. “So if there’s any misnomer about that, you probably should nix that and get rid of it now. He’s all about the team. He’s all about the brotherhood.”

Elliott started receiving criticism after the Cowboys fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their season opener. Elliott had just 33 yards on 11 carries in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In Week 2 against the Chargers, Elliott had a better game with 16 attempts, 71 yards and a touchdown. However, fellow running back Tony Pollard had a better performance against the Chargers, rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

The contrast in their play has led many to question the value of the Cowboys’ pro-bowl running back. Recently, former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III suggested that the Cowboys trade Elliott.

“They might as well go ahead and trade Ezekiel Elliott to the Ravens,” Griffin tweeted. “He would get more than 4 carries in the first half.”

Griffin cleaned up his take in another Tweet to clear up any uncertainty in his original post.

“Just wanna see Zeke get his carries to justify his contract and help other RB’s get paid in the future,” Griffin wrote.

Elliott also addressed the comment in the media himself.

“You hear it,” Elliott said. “But what really matters is what’s going on in this building. They’re not the ones signing the check. They’re not the ones sending the wires. So I don’t think it matters.”

Dak Prescott and Elliott are both fixated on the same outcome, and that’s the Cowboys winning. In the past few season, the offense looks like with one of the two missing in action. Dallas is currently trying to regain its form from 2018, the last time it made the playoff. And so far this season, the Cowboys look like a team capable of making it to the postseason. If they can do that, then that will silence all the noise around Ezekiel Elliott’s performance so far.

The Dallas Cowboys will look to keep this solid start to the season going as they faceoff against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.
