When New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced his retirement following the 2022 season, there was a widespread belief he would quickly return to the profession after taking some time off and getting out of his current contract. According to a report by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, that is likely to become a reality in less than a year time.

Sources said that the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins are currently considered the frontrunners when Sean Payton makes his way back into coaching and announces the end of his retirement. The report also includes that this list is accompanied by the phrase “among other teams,” leaving the door open for all 32 franchises if the price – and opportunity – is right.

Jackson’s report further identified three critical factors in Payton’s decision as he holds a certain level of respect around the NFL to make demands. The requirements include warm weather, a roster than can contend and control over personnel decisions.

Dak Prescott working with Cowboys wide receivers

It is a big year for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys after last year’s early exit in the playoffs. So, he took the chance to start building on some of the relationships with his offensive weapons this offseason.

Prescott took some of his teammates to the facilities at Miami to work out. Among the group were CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott, Dalton Schultz, Sean McKeon and rookie Jalen Tolbert, and Prescott said the trip will go a long way toward developing the bonds this season.

“It was great, obviously, just being able to get away and do that,” Prescott told reporters on Saturday. “We didn’t get a chance to do it last year with the injury, but having CeeDee, having Schultz, Sean. Got the rookie [Tolbert] out there for some reps, and Zeke, obviously. It was great just to have that camaraderie.

“But then again, go over to Miami, go open the doors for us and let us have the facility and put in some great work. Some great work that some of those guys may not have gotten in the back half of the OTAs and stuff.”
