The Dallas Cowboys opted to cancel Wednesday’s minicamp practice and media availability. Instead, Mike McCarthy decided to shift focus away from the field.

The Cowboys instead held a “group dynamic event” in lieu of practice, according to The Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken. As it turns out, McCarthy wanted to focus on team bonding after Tuesday’s practice.

Dallas, like many teams, held minicamp as part of the final tuneups before training camps open next month. The Cowboys are trying to build off last season, which ended with a 12-5 record and an NFC Wild Card Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers. They made a major move this offseason, as well, trading Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. That means CeeDee Lamb is in line to be the top target once again for Dak Prescott — whom McCarthy said is in great shape.

“It’s been huge,” McCarthy said. “It’s been huge for him, it’s been huge for everybody. All the little things that we do- particularly the meetings, the walkthroughs and all of that – they’re important, obviously. But just for him to have no limits has been outstanding, and I think you clearly see it in the way he’s moving this year. You look at his body: he’s clearly different than he was last year. He’s leaner, more flexible.”

Dak Prescott updates his health, reveals importance of being healthy in the offseason

Dak Prescott is back and healthy, ready to lead the Dallas Cowboys toward another playoff push. He entered the 2021 season dealing with an ankle injury and left it having shoulder issues. After a few months of recovery, the quarterback is ready to rock and roll.

When speaking to the media recently, Prescott gave an update on his health, saying everything is good to go. He then explained why it’s important to be healthy this offseason, citing the young receiving core the Cowboys have on their roster.

“I feel great,” Prescott said. “Not being restricted, being able to do every drill, everything, and it counts. It matters. Being able to get out there and having so many reps with these young guys, having such a young receiving core, young team.

“Just being able to rotate those guys but me actually getting in there with those reps. Having to explain some of the things to them but those are good, quality reps for me and some of those guys when we actually need them in the fall.”
