Tampa Bay running back Leonard Fournette made a long-distance house call today for the Bucs in their 33-27 overtime win. It was a bit of a blast from the past, as he ripped off a 47-yard touchdown run against the Buffalo Bills.

It was his longest run since he ripped off a 46-yard run against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 20 of 2020.

After the Bucs big win over the Bills, former LSU linebacker Devin White shared a message for Mr. Fournette. “I’m not going to brag on him too much, so he gets a big head, but man, I’ve been around him so long growing up as a little kid. I mean, the man was the No. 1 recruit in high school and then went on to do what he did at LSU,” White said.

“And I looked up to him, so I knew he had that in him, but I had yet to see it. So when I told him on the sidelines, ‘bro you prolly the fastest to date out of everybody in the NFL‘. He was like, ‘I told y’all, I’m like that. I got it in me.’ Man, I was proud of him, but that’s what he’s capable of,” the star Tampa Bay linebacker said.

A bit of a career renaissance in Tampa Bay for the star tailback

The wildest part about Fournette is that the Tampa Bay Bucs didn’t have to pay anything to get him. Not a dime. The Jaguars released him after three years in which the star tailback rushed for 2,631 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.

This season with Tampa Bay, Fournette has rushed for 778 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 171 carries. He’s more than doubled his production from last season in Tampa Bay on the ground. The former LSU star has also nearly doubled his receiving yards from last year, too.

White was right, Fournette was the nation’s No. 1 running back prospect in America coming out of high school. Not only was he the top running back prospect in the country, but he was a top five overall prospect by every major scouting service.

Leonard Fournette LSU career

In just 32 games at LSU, Fournette rushed for 3,830 total rushing yards, finishing fourth in school history. He also finished second in school history in all purpose yardage per game (155.7) and third in overall touchdowns (42). Simply put, he was one of the greatest to ever suit up in Baton Rouge.

Bucs fans are hoping Fournette continues to rip off big runs for them in the playoffs and that playoff Lenny can once again turn into Super Bowl Lenny.

The Tampa Bay Bucs currently sit at 10-3 overall. Their next opponent is the New Orleans Saints and they face them on Dec. 19.
