Draymond Green reacts to Max Christie heading to Lakers in 2022 NBA Draft
A Michigan State star went No. 35 overall in the NBA Draft Thursday night. That might sound familiar to Spartan Nation.
In 2012, Draymond Green was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 35th overall pick, and it happened again 10 years later. Max Christie heard his name called at No. 35 by the Los Angeles Lakers — and Green made a prediction for his future in the league, based on the history of Michigan State stars going at No. 35.
“Another 35th pick from Michigan State. History says he’s going to be an All-Star,” Green tweeted, along with a shrug emoji.
Christie was the lone Spartan to go in the draft after putting together quite a season as a freshman at Michigan State last year. He averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game to help the Spartans to a 23-13 record, including 11-9 in Big Ten play, in 2021-22.

Michigan State shooting guard Max Christie is off the board in the 2022 NBA Draft. With the No. 35 pick in the second round, Christie was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers.
A five-star recruit in the Class of 2021, Christie is leaving Michigan State for the NBA Draft after just one season. It was a season that Michigan State had a lot of hope during, but a streak of losses in Big Ten play derailed their run. Still, Michigan State made it to the NCAA Tournament, where they eventually lost to Duke.
Christie scored 21 points against Nebraska, which ended up being a season-high for the freshman. He was a member of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and flashed tons of ability throughout the season. He has also represented the United State of America national team in the 2019 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship.
On the season, Christie averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 38.2% from the field and 31.7% from three-point range.
