When former NFL general manager and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum watches Cam Ward on film, he sees similarities between him and the reigning league MVP. Yes, Tannebaum said on Friday’s “Get Up” that Ward reminds him of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

“There’s a ruggedness to the way Cam Ward plays that really reminds me of Josh Allen,” Tannenbaum said. “The arm strength and coming out, they both had similar yards per attempt and rushing yards. The athleticism of Cam Ward is very underrated as was Josh Allen’s. In Tennessee, they may be getting a star.”

That’s a big vote of confidence in the Miami signal-caller from the former New York Jets and Miami Dolphins front office executive. Ward is coming off his best collegiate season after transferring to the Hurricanes from Washington State. He threw for 4,313 yards, averaging to 331.8 yards per game and 9.5 yards per attempt, for 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 67.2% completion, which were all among the best passing stats in the country as he went on to be an All-American and a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

Now, in six days, he’ll likely become the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Barring a last-minute change in plans, the Tennessee Titans are all-in on Ward.

Adam Schefter makes definitive statement on Cam Ward, No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft

“Well, Greeny, those chimes are music to everybody’s ears and the Titans are on the clock and the pick is expected to be Cam Ward, barring some last-minute, unforeseen offer rolling into Tennessee,” ESPN‘s Adam Schefter said Thursday. “The Titans are looking for their quarterback of the future. They believe Cam Ward is their quarterback of the future, and they look like they may be building around, their program around that quarterback.”

If Ward turns out to be anything like Allen, the Titans will be over the moon. This is a franchise that has long been looking for its franchise quarterback of the future. It wasn’t Jake Locker, Marcus Mariota nor does it appear to be Will Levis.

Could it be Ward? Time will ultimately tell, and Tennessee has been down this road before with the aforementioned names. But he’s certainly talented and to most, the consensus top quarterback in this year’s draft.
