The Eagles gave Jalen Hurts the opportunity to prove he can be their future quarterback throughout the 2021 season. After leading Philadelphia to the playoffs, the franchise is committing to Hurts for the foreseeable future.

In his end of the season press conference, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman explained Hurts’ position with the franchise for 2022.

“Jalen, and the growth he had as really a first-year starter, second-year player — leading this team to the playoffs,” stated Roseman. “Tremendously impressed by his work ethic, his leadership.

“The last time we talked was during camp, and we said we wanted to see him take the bull by the horns. And he certainly did that.”

When Hurts got the Philadelphia, Carson Wentz was thought to be the team’s future. However, the former Alabama and Oklahoma star supplanted him as their quarterback of the future. However, Hurts still had to prove himself. The Eagles possessed three first-round picks that could potentially be used in looking for a quarterback.

Furthermore, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni also stated his belief in the quarterback.

“Jalen knows he is our guy — Jalen knows he is our quarterback,” stated Sirianni via John Clark of NBC Philadelphia. “Jalen knows where he stands with us.”

After a rocky start to the season, Hurts and the Eagles turned it on as the season progressed. In the end, the quarterback passed for 3,144 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. Additionally, the dual-threat quarterback amassed 784 yards and ten touchdowns rushing the football, as well.

Now, the Eagles can use their bevy of draft picks to improve the team around Hurts. With the future at quarterback already set, Philadelphia looks ready to be a team to watch in the NFC for years to come.

Moreover, Hurts didn’t have a great performance in the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, more information as to why that might’ve been was revealed after the showdown.

Hurts was spotted leaving Sunday’s game with a walking boot. According to the quarterback, he has been dealing with his injury for “some time.” Additionally, the former Alabama and Oklahoma star is unsure if he will need surgery in the offseason.

On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed some more details on Hurts’ ankle injury.

#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts left the stadium in a walking boot because of an ankle injury he’s been battling for weeks,” Rapoport tweeted. “He’s been able to tolerate the pain caused by damaged ligaments. But he clearly wasn’t 100% like earlier in the season when he was dynamic in the run game.”

As you can see, Hurts proved he’s a warrior by playing through the pain. When next season rolls around, a healthy and improved Jalen Hurts will be on the hunt to prove the Eagles right.
