The drama in the first half ratcheted up as the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys saw another controversial pass interference call. Earlier in the game, Dallas was upset at a no-call on pass interference in the end zone when receiver Noah Brown got tangled up with New York’s Darnay Holmes.

It didn’t take long for New York fans to get a call of their own to point to in the first half, as a massive pass completion in the final minutes of the half was erased by an offensive pass interference call. During the play, Sterling Shepard crossed the field as another receiver was crossing his direction. Daniel Jones was forced to scramble on the play and led to confusion down the field as players tried to get open — leading to a Shepard running directly into Trevon Diggs.

Diggs was leveled by the hit and went to the ground shaken up, and Shepard was penalized for the collision. The Giants immediately pleaded their case to the officials — similar to how Dallas did prior — to no avail. Shepard’s case was that he was focused on getting open for the quarterback and all contact was incidental.

The penalty erased a field goal opportunity at the very least, leading to a turnover-on-downs and no points scored by New York to end the half. Dallas entered the locker rooms for the break with a 6-3 lead, with fans on both sides of the game with plenty to point out with the officials.
