Early in the 2022 season, James Franklin has been able to put one of the best young running back tandems on the field. Nick Singleton and Keyvone Lee look like they’re going to be a problem for Big Ten defenses for years to come at Penn State.

Unfortunately, for Lee, he’s been banged up and there were questions about whether or not he’d be available for the Auburn game. He played in that game, but those questions about availability remain. While fielding questions, James Franklin was asked if he’d be able to go on Saturday.

“Yeah, I’m not sure yet,” James Franklin said. “He was out here, but yeah, I’m not sure yet.”

While James Franklin was only willing to say so much about Keyvone Lee’s injury, he did give some insight into what he said. Last week, Lee went down with an injury against Auburn but was able to return to the field during the game. This week, he’s been able to practice. That implies he should be healthy enough to play on Saturday.

However, it’s worth pointing out Penn State is playing a MAC team at home, rather than an SEC team on the road. So, the Nittany Lions aren’t going to need him on the field as badly.

Keyvone Lee was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020. His backfield mate, Nick Singleton, was a five-star and the top running back in the Class of 2022.

Penn State’s next game is on Saturday, September 24th, against Central Michigan.
