Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has not been shy about his frustrations surrounding his team and coaching staff. The Cowboys lost last weekend to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Following the loss, there has been a lot of speculation about possible changes that Jones could make on the Cowboys’ coaching staff, including with head coach Mike McCarthy.

Jones hasn’t hidden his disappointment in his team’s premature playoff exit, and his most recent comments certainly don’t paint a pretty picture for McCarthy and the rest of the Cowboys staff.

“Let me be real clear, one of the pet peeves I have is that I don’t like this, ‘Well we’ve got to work on this in the offseason, we got to work on this,'” Jones said, via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “I don’t go for that. I want those things recognized and addressed after we play Tampa (in Week 1). After the first game, or after we play the sixth game. I don’t want to wait until we’re sitting here with no season left to address these things we’re doing or not doing.

“All of that is in the mix here and a part of what I do. That’s the way I do it, as you know, the ultimate decision in these coaches is one that I have to make.”

Jones will make changes to Cowboys staff if he feels it is necessary

McCarthy joined the Cowboys ahead of last season. In his first year in Dallas, McCarthy coached to a 6-10 record after losing quarterback Dak Prescott for the season. The Cowboys finished third in the NFC East. This season, though, things turned around. Dallas finished the regular season at 12-5, cruising to a NFC East title with ease. The Cowboys were the NFC’s third seed in the playoffs.

But despite the regular season success, the Cowboys weren’t able to get it done in the playoffs. The San Francisco 49ers walked out of Dallas with a close victory on Wild Card weekend.

If Jones feels like a staff change is necessary for the Cowboys, he will make one. He mas made that, along with his frustration, abundantly clear.

“If I thought changing out men at any level would improve us, I would change it out,” Jones said, via USA Today’s Jori Epstein. “Bottom line is yes I’m very, very frustrated and upset that we have used up some very talented players of the last couple years.”
