Jerry Jones sat in his owner’s suite at AT&T Stadium as thousands of Denver Broncos fans cheered, over and over again, during Sunday’s 30-16 upset over the Dallas Cowboys.

Fans, players and media commented on the overwhelming presence of Broncos fans even though it was a Dallas home game, and on Tuesday, the Cowboys’ owner was asked about the ticket situation.

“Actually, I like the way the ticket situation is in the NFL today,” Jones said.

“You have a tremendous secondary market. And that is not under the control of any team or any league. And it’s healthy and it’s good. Frankly, we’re a good game for fans to come to. We’re in the central part of the country, we’re lucky enough to have such a great venue. And of course, we’re playing well this year. With all of that in mind, that’s right where I want to be.”

Jerry Jones went on to say that if the Dallas Cowboys would have performed better, the influx of Denver fans wouldn’t have caught much attention.

“Now let’s just be candid,” Jones continued. “We didn’t have a lot to cheer about out there Sunday. And you could have had two of them there and they would have been noticeable with the Denver Broncos. They would have been going crazy. But of course, there were a lot more (Broncos fans) there. But that was about as hard to have something to cheer about out there Sunday as you could have. Given some success, even though you had a lot of Denver fans there, we would have drowned them out going and coming.”

To close out his statement, Jerry Jones noted that it’s the decision of each individual season-ticket holder on what they want to do with their seat on a given week.

“Our fans own those seats,” the longtime Dallas Cowboys’ owner added.

“They own those seat licenses for the most part. And that’s one of the things they get to do. They can choose who they want in that seat or who gets in that seat. And they can choose that for the next 20 years.”

Jones didn’t hold back when he commented on his team’s effort in the surprising loss.

“That’s as flat as any team I’ve seen,” Jerry Jones said via Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “We basically played what seemed to be lackadaisical.”

It’s clear the Cowboys’ owner believes if the team plays well, the fans will naturally react and create a tough environment for their opponent. If not, another fan base can take the stadium over just like the Denver Broncos fans did on Sunday.
