Joe Burrow has the blueprint now. According to the former LSU star quarterback, while losing the Super Bowl to the Los Angeles Rams was heartbreaking, the Cincinnati Bengals are better for it. Now, the franchise understands what it takes to capture a Lombardi Trophy.

Speaking with Ben Baby of ESPN, Burrow explained why the loss to the Rams will be better for the Bengals in the long-run.

“Going into last year, we knew we were good, but I think going into the playoffs, we knew we could win but we weren’t really sure what it took,” Burrow said Tuesday, per Pro Football Talk. “We just went out there and played really hard and together as a team, and it worked out.

“Now, we know what it takes and we have that experience in our back pockets going forward.”

Experience changes everything. While the Rams won the Super Bowl last season, it took Los Angeles losing to the New England Patriots on the biggest stage a couple of seasons ago to give them the insight on what it takes to be the best. Perhaps a similar trajectory is in the Bengals future.

Nevertheless, it’s impossible to bet against Joe Burrow and the Bengals. If you didn’t learn that lesson last season, they’ll be out to remind you that these aren’t your father’s Bengals throughout the 2022-23 NFL season.

More on Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Incase the magical run Joe Burrow took the Bengals on during the 2021-22 NFL season made you forget, the former LSU star quarterback was coming off a major knee injury as he led Cincinnati to a historic season. Now, as Burrow’s knee continues to get healthier, the reigning NFL Comeback Player of the Year has shed his brace.

“Yeah, it’s fun,” Burrow said of shedding the brace, per Pro Football Talk. “I don’t really like wearing that thing, so it’s good to have that off.”

While Burrow is elated to have his knee brace off, it still remains to be seen whether or not the former LSU star will play without it during the 2022-23 NFL season.

“I don’t anticipate wearing it but maybe get to game day and feel a little more comfortable having it on, so we’ll see,” Burrow said.

Moreover, Burrow has had immediate success in the NFL despite never having a normal offseason prior to now. To illustrate, the Bengals quarterback was drafted during the advent of the COVID pandemic, and then spent most of his offseason after his rookie season rehabbing his knee injury. Finally, the former No. 1 overall selection can just focus of football prior to his third NFL season.

“I feel great,” Burrow said Tuesday, via video from the team, per Pro Football Talk. “Obviously, this is my first offseason in the NFL, so I’ve been able to take advantage of that as far as my body and my throwing and my mind and all that. Obviously, I’ve been grinding, but it’s also been relaxing not having to worry about, ‘Am I going to be ready for the season?’ I can just focus on getting my body right, making sure I’m healthy and then relaxing.”
