Peyton Manning and Eli Manning have each won multiple Super Bowls, had decade-plus-long NFL careers and generally held a place in the American football mind for more than two decades, now. They also have never stopped being brothers, always ready to get one over on the other.

On Saturday night, it was Peyton and his son, Marshall, who got to have a little fun at the expense of Uncle Eli. On the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field before the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the New York Giants — Eli’s former team — in a divisional playoff game, the younger Manning was sporting a jersey.

A blue, No. 10 New York Giants jersey with “Manning” splayed across the shoulders? No. Out from under his jacket peeked a No. 1, dark green Jalen Hurts Eagles jersey.

Peyton, for his part, was in some exceedingly neutral gray. But when it comes to fans, it looks like Eli Manning might want to check twice before counting his nephew among them.

WATCH: Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants NFC divisional round game delayed by broken down chains

The NFC divisional round playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants — two NFC East rivals — at Lincoln Financial Field was delayed for a short period on Saturday for an unusual reason: The chains keeping track of first downs broke. That’s seemingly a new one.

After the hosting Eagles had completed their opening drive and scored a touchdown, the Giants took over on offense. But they were halted by the officials shortly into their offensive series as one of the links to measure a first down gave out.

“The chains are literally broken,” Fox play-by-play announcer Joe Davis said. “And we’re going to take a break. Back in a moment so they can fix that thing.”

By the time the Fox broadcast came back from commercial, the chains had not been fixed. But the replacement set of chains had been brought out in relief.

There was a slight delay with them, though, too: The chain itself was wrapped around the poles attached at either end, a tangled mess.

Color commentator Daryl Johnston had a bit of humor for the moment.

“You never know when you’re going to be called in to your boss, but the guy who wraps up the back up chain set is going to be in the offices early tomorrow morning,” Johnston said.

Played resumed shortly thereafter — a brief and seemingly unique stoppage to an NFL playoff game. Seems about right for the Eagles, Giants and NFC East, too.
