Former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is used to laying out opponents on the football field. Tonight, in the NFC Championship game between the Rams and 49ers, he got to watch his former Nittany Lion teammate, Nick Scott, layout 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel on a pass across the middle.

Jimmy Garoppolo threw a pass over the middle to Deebo Samuel and Scott delivered a bone-jarring hit on Samuel to prevent the catch. A flag was thrown initially, but after the officials discussed the play, they picked up the flag and ruled it was a clean hit.

Check it out below, in case you missed it.

It was undoubtedly one of the hardest hits of the 2021-2022 NFL season. Samuel was shaken up a bit after the play but was fine after a few minutes. The refs got the call right, and it was a perfectly clean hit by Scott. It’s refreshing to see a defender deliver a hard hit and not get flagged for it, for once.

Check out Parsons’ reaction to the hit.

Parsons has pretty much locked up Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He’s been an unblockable force this season for the Dallas Cowboys, so it’s good to see him enjoying the play of his former Penn State teammates.

Nick Scott has been making a splash for the Rams the past few weeks

Nick Scott has had an excellent postseason for the Rams and has made a number of critical plays in the past few weeks. The former Penn State standout also had an interception at the end of the first half in last weekend’s matchup against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs.

He also layed another epic hit on AJ Green in the Rams-Cardinals game to force an incompletion.

Following his senior season at Penn State, Scott was named honorable mention All -Big Ten. During the 2018-2019 season, he racked up 65 tackles, three interceptions, one sack, and one tackle for loss.

Penn State fans hope Scott can keep the positive momentum going and continue to make a name for former Nittany Lion players in the NFL.
