The buzz around Odell Beckham Jr. signing with the Dallas Cowboys is growing and growing. First it was team owner Jerry Jones speaking about the wideout on the radio, and now it’s former star wideout Michael Irvin making the pitch.

Speaking on 105.3 The FAN in Dallas, Irvin brought the hard sell where Jones had a softer touch. Irvin thinks Dallas is meant to be for Beckham.

“Odell is built to be in Dallas. He’s been wanting to play in Dallas for a long time. I believe [the Cowboys] do have the upper hand right now. It would be a great get if [Jerry] can get Odell. He would love to play for Dallas,” Irvin said, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.

It would be a big-name signing for one of the biggest franchises in sports. And aside from that, it seems like it could be a good football match with Beckham slotting in as a second option in the passing attack alongside CeeDee Lamb — a la his role as a counterpart to Cooper Kupp with the Los Angeles Rams last season.

Jerry Jones recently made his own soft pitch for Beckham to sign with the Cowboys

The Beckham sweepstakes has been one of the more random underlying storylines of this NFL season. After tearing his ACL in Super Bowl LVI, OBJ has not landed on a roster yet for the 2022 campaign. Still, interest has grown the entire season around the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver from several franchises and players.

Of those franchises, the Cowboys name has come up more than once. Question marks out wide would make it easy for Jerry Jones to slide Beckham Jr. in if he so chose. With those rumors swirling around, Jones addressed them today in an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. He said Beckham Jr. is a player that Dallas respects. If things worked out, he says they’d be more than happy to have him wear the star.

“Odell is someone that we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor. And (we) know that the Cowboys star on that helmet when he puts it on could look pretty good,” said Jones.
