Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is recovering after battling a groin injury throughout their win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. According to head coach Mike McCarthy on Monday, Parsons is “getting better” in regards to the groin injury that visibly bothered him in the second half on Sunday.

Dallas did not provide an update on Monday about his availability ahead of Wednesday’s practice.

Micah Parsons groin injury update

“Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said linebacker Micah Parsons (groin) is ‘good’ and ‘getting better.’ Has not received a medical update yet on how much Parsons can do in practice Wednesday. Believes it says a lot about Parsons how impactful he was despite injury,” explained Dallas Morning NewsMichael Gehlken.

Parsons appeared to be not feeling 100% on the field in the first half of Dallas’ big win over the Rams, but didn’t miss any time on the field before halftime. As the teams entered the locker rooms, Parsons took much longer than the rest of the team to get off the field — talking with trainers and limping as he walked slowly off the field.

When the teams returned to the field for the second half, Parsons was still walking slowly and appeared in some form of pain as they took the sideline. He continued to stretch out and keep loose on the exercise bike and was not on the field for the first defensive play of the half. Parsons did enter the game on the drive on the second play, but continued to come in and out of the game in an apparent effort to give himself time to recover from the plays.

Despite suffering from groin tightness, Parsons delivered on the drive in a huge way as he helped force a punt by recording his first sack of the game. Despite missing snaps on defense for the remainder of the game, Parsons once again came up huge in the clutch for Dallas with a sack-fumble to seal the victory late.

Although visibly hampered and not at his best, Parsons finished the day with five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. McCarthy pointed to the former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year’s toughness as an example of who he is as a player and leader on the team.

Coming off a season where he finished second in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting as a rookie with 13 sacks, Parsons is on pace to eclipse last year’s total through five games. So far this season, Parsons has already amassed six sacks and one forced fumble.
