Young Dallas defensive star Micah Parsons appeared on the Cowboys’ injury report Wednesday and missed practice due to an illness. However, whatever that illness is, it apparently won’t sideline Parsons for Monday night’s game at the New York Giants.

Here was report on Micah Parsons from Cowboys reporter John Machota, including a quote from Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy on Parsons’ availability:

“Cowboys LB Micah Parsons did not practice yesterday because of an illness. He’s still expected to play vs. Giants,” Machota tweeted. Adding that Mike McCarthys said, “He’s working through it. I talked to him last night. He wants to come in today, try to get some work and get ready for Monday night.”

Another reporter, Michael Gehlken, also tweeted some McCarthy quotes regarding the illness situation with Parsons. Apparently the coach was asked if Parsons was dealing with allergies, and answered that’s exactly what the issue is.

“You hit the nail on the head there. It’s that time of year, and so he’s working through it. He wants to come in today and try to get some work and get ready for Monday night.”

So sounds like Micah Parsons will be back on the field this weekend in their primetime game vs. the Giants. A small hiccup in an otherwise very healthy start to the linebacker’s career.

Micah Parson battling ‘bit of a cold,’ won’t practice Thursday

Parsons didn’t practice on Thursday, McCarthy said. Ideally for the Cowboys, a little extra rest on the end of the week will have Parsons ready to go come Monday.

“Battling a little bit of a cold, so we’re just going to be smart with him,” McCarthy said about Parsons on Thursday.

The Cowboys will surely be hoping to have Parsons available on Monday, as he’s been one of the best defenders in the league since bursting on to the scene as a rookie in 2021. He’s registered two sacks in each of the first two games this season, a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then a win against the Cincinnati Bengals this past weekend
