Pittsburgh Steelers fans got some good news about Najee Harris after he left Week 1 with an injury. He made one thing clear during an interview Tuesday: He’ll be ready to roll for Week 2.

Harris appeared on Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM Tuesday morning and made a statement that will be music to Steelers Nation’s ears.

“I’ll be back at practice this week, and then I will be playing this weekend,” he told Adam Schein.

Harris left Pittsburgh’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury as the Steelers narrowly defeated the Bengals in overtime. However, tests came back negative, which meant he didn’t aggravate the Lisfranc injury he suffered in training camp.

It also helps Pittsburgh has an off day Tuesday before it returns home to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday. That’s part of the reason Harris is planting to participate in practice throughout the week.

“The plan is I should be ready to play, should be back practicing, Harris said. “Today’s our off day. It’s good that we’ve got today off just to let it heal for another day. Just ready to go for this weekend.”

Tests come back negative on Najee Harris’ ankle injury

Test results on the injury to Steelers running back Najee Harris came back negative Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Harris rolled his ankle late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Week 1 win against Cincinnati, but “should be good to go” as Pittsburgh prepares to face the Patriots in Week 2.

The former Alabama star exited with under two minutes remaining in the game after suffering the injury, and limped off the field under his own power. The scare was increased by a recent injury that Harris recovered from over training camp — a Lisfranc injury.

Harris and the Steelers had a rough day in the rushing attack, as the running back totaled only 23 yards on ten carries. Pittsburgh went on to win the game in dramatic fashion by a score of 23-20 in overtime.
