NC State lands commitment from Utah State DE Cian Slone

NC State’s spring practice slate is over and the Pack is already adding to its roster. Utah State transfer defensive end Cian Slone pledged his commitment to the Wolfpack on Saturday morning. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
The a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defender projects to play outside linebacker as a key edge rusher for NC State in the 2025 season.
Slone logged 49 total tackles, including 26 solo stops, with 7.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for a loss in the 2024 campaign. He also logged 28 tackles with two sacks and four passes defended as a junior with the Aggies.
The Rocklin, Calif., native logged at least one tackle in all 12 games, rising to the Aggies’ starter for the final eight contests in the 2024 campaign. Once he worked his way into the starting lineup, Slone posted at least four tackles in every game, including a season-best nine stops in a 41-20 win over San Diego State. Slone also posted three multi-sack performances, including a pair of games with two sacks each this past season.

In addition, Slone added 15 quarterback hurries, resulting in 12 hits and his 7.5 sacks, this past season. He also logged 25 “stops,” which are a tackle that constitutes a failure for the offense, according to Pro Football Focus.
Before Slone was at Utah State, he spent two seasons at North Highlands (Calif.) American River College. As a sophomore, Slone was named a California Community College Football Coaches Association All-American and was the Defensive MVP after he posted 84 total tackles, including 22 for a loss, with 12 sacks.
Since Slone was due to be out of eligibility following the 2024 season as a former junior college player, he received one more year to play due to the Diego Pavia court ruling in December.
