The New York Giants had more questions than answers throughout multiple areas on the team. And it looked like one of their biggest areas of concern, the offensive line, was dealt a heavy blow when offensive tackle Andrew Thomas had ankle surgery. However, according to the recent update from the Giants, their young tackle is ‘prepared to be ready’ for the start of training camp.

“Rehab is coming along pretty well. I’m doing everything the trainers ask me to do,” Thomas said on the Giants Huddle podcast. “Definitely moving a lot better and I’m prepared to be ready for training camp. It’s definitely frustrating, but it’s part of the business, learning how to navigate being injured because you’re never going to feel 100 percent. But I felt like last year I started to make some strides. It’s a little frustrating sometimes when you can’t be on the field with your teammates.”

The Giants selected Thomas with the number four overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Georgia Bulldog collected a number of accolades while at the university, including being named a unanimous All-American and recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy in 2019.

This is not the first time Thomas has had to undergo offseason surgery. After his rookie season, he underwent surgery to repair the very same left ankle. Hopefully, for his sake and the Giants, this surgery will resolve his lingering ankle issue for the upcoming season.

“Matt Eberflus needs his 3-technique. So much so that they nearly used all their available cap space this offseason to sign Larry Ogunjobi,” began Renner. “Well, the 2023 draft features a 3-technique who is even better than Ogunjobi and could very well be the best we’ve seen in our eight years of grading at PFF.

“It was Carter who led all FBS defensive tackles — and Georgia defenders — with a 90.0 pass-rushing grade last season. That’s unheard of for a true sophomore at the position.”

If Carter makes his way to Chicago, he could be a transformative piece for the Bears defense. After trading away Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Bears will be looking for one — and Carter would be perfect.

Nevertheless, there’s plenty of time between now and the 2023 NFL Draft — but Jalen Carter will remain high on draft boards if he continues his progression.
