NFL announces 2022 international schedule, with games in Germany, Mexico

The NFL announced its full schedule of international games on Wednesday morning, officially revealing which teams will play, along with when and where. The record-setting five international fixtures will be played in a number of locations across Europe and North America in cities with a high number of fans.

Among other interesting notes from the schedule reveal, it was announced that the Green Bay Packers will make their international debut. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady will also headline the first NFL game played in Germany.

The Arizona Cardinals are part of the NFL’s return to Mexico, hosting the first game in the country since 2019. In addition, the Jacksonville Jaguars continue their tradition of hosting a game in the United Kingdom.

“We are very excited to be staging five games outside the United States in 2022, and thank the clubs for their continued commitment to growing the sport internationally,” NFL executive vice president of club business and league events Peter O’Reilly said in a statement, via NFL.com. “Our fans in Germany, Mexico and the UK can look forward to seeing some of the most iconic names and biggest stars in the League and enjoying an incredible series of events.”

The games will also be played in a number of the world’s most famous stadiums, including the historic Estado Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico. The other two locations, FC Bayern Munich Stadium in Munich, Germany and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, United Kingdom, are two of Europe’s most state-of-the-art facilities and regularly host important soccer competitions throughout the year.
